Since 1980

A tradition of excellence, Groupe Noël through the ages

Founded in 1980, Groupe Noël inc. focuses on building services for commercial and residential construction in the Quebec City and Montreal regions. They are involved in a variety of major projects, from hospital complexes to data centers, public transit projects and multi-residential construction.
Avant-garde, the company values teamwork, respect, authenticity, excellence and innovation.

Both entities share an approach focused on quality and innovation, while offering attractive benefits to their employees, such as comprehensive insurance, continuing education programs and social activities.

1982

Réfrigération Noël is purchased by Alex Alexandre, brother of Jean-Paul Alexandre, and a partner, Yves Marcon. At the time, the company had 3 service trucks and annual sales of $100,000.

Late 1982

At the end of 1982, Jean-Paul Alexandre moves to Quebec City from the Lower St. Lawrence region. Working for Ferblanterie Ouellet in La Pocatière, he continues to work for the company on a subcontracting basis.

1986

André Alexandre joins Réfrigération Noël to start up the company's plumbing-heating division. By this time, sales had risen from $100,000 to $4 million a year.

1987

Gérard Normand joins the team to start the ventilation discipline

1991

First ventilation project over 2.5 M (Novale school) in Quebec City. Gérard Normand leaves the team and opens the first manufacturing plant and offices in Beauport.

1993

FritoLay plant project in Lévis. A +/- 4 M project. This will also mark the start of pre-assembly at the Beauport manufacturing plant. Sales at this time are around 10

1994-2003

Réfrigération Noël has several major projects on its order book. These include

  • Fritolay in Lévis
  • Base Militaire Valcartier - dormitories, heliport, multisport center, infantry center
  • Mortagne Hotel, Boucherville
  • Exfo offices, Quebec
  • Hôtel et Casino du Lac Lemay, Gatineau
2003

Fire at Beauport plant. Total loss, including offices. The offices are quickly relocated to Ste-Foy. It was at this point that Jean-Paul decided to buy out his two brothers' shares in Réfrigération Noël to become sole owner. A few months after the fire, the entire team was relocated to 16,000 square feet in the Vanier industrial park.

2006

Jean-Paul continues to grow his business - he buys QOB Global, bringing the number of employees to 170, including some 30 technicians on his service team. He also added industrial refrigeration and medical gases to the company's services.

In the same year, the company moved again to a 22,000 sq. ft. building. In February of that same year, JPMétal was born, establishing itself as an undisputed leader in the spiral duct industry in Quebec City.

2008

The company leaves Quebec with a project for Calgary's ALT Hotel, where its company does the ventilation.

2010

In 2010, Jean-Paul bought the building located at 1700 rue Léon-Harmel in Quebec City. Over 80,000 square feet of space. He invested to enlarge the building to house his offices and manufacturing plant, JPMétal.

2017

Steve Roy joins Jean-Paul as business development partner and general manager of the company. Sales have now reached around 30 million euros.

It was also at this time that the company changed its logo and name to Groupe Noël. This new name better reflects the scope of our ventilation, plumbing and refrigeration services.

An office has also been opened on Montreal's south shore, in Longueuil, to serve the greater Montreal area.

2020

A memorable year for a number of reasons: strong demand for our products and services due to the fact that many companies want to redesign or add ventilation ducts to cope with the Covid 19 pandemic in order to provide better working environments. Groupe Noël then faced very rapid growth and added several new employees to its plant to keep up with production demand.

2023

To cope with the company's growth, Jean-Paul hires Martin Michaud as General Manager. Martin joins the team with a background in construction and management.

In June 2023, Groupe Noël Montréal opens its new office at 5574 des Rossignols Blvd. in Laval. The company employs +/- 35 site and office staff. The opening of the company will enable greater inclusion in the Greater Montreal market and west of Quebec City.

2024

Acquisition of a control company, PurClimatContrôles, to offer a turnkey product.

Today, Groupe Noël and its affiliates employ over 350 people in Quebec. With multi-million dollar projects such as the New Enfant-Jésus Hospital Complex, several data centers (Microsoft), schools and other hospitals, Groupe Noël ranks among the leaders in building mechanics.
